Social Contexts of The Youth Drug Addiction in Ahar City

Drug addiction is a problem that has plagued humanity and has put it at serious risk. Today most countries are facing such social dilemina. Drug addiction usually centers on the youth. Prevention is better than cure and awareness of the causes of addiction works. The aim of this paper is to show the social context of drug addiction among the youth that the police strategies should work on. Benefitting from Sutherlan's differential association, Hirsch's social control and Durkheim and Merton's anomie theories and reviewing studies in this field, theoretical model and research hypotheses have been proposed. Using survey and questionnaire, the data requirements of 80 young men aged 30-15 was collected using simple random sampling. T test, pearson correlation, X2 and phi were used.The results suggest that in appropriate peers, family problems, lack of awareness of the consequences of drug abuse, local pollution, unemployment, poverty and disease are the main causes of drug addiction among the youth.
