Determinism and Free Will in Maarri and Molana's poety

Abstract:
Determinism and free will are the most ancient and conflicting issues which have always been the discussion issue amongst discourse analytics and Islamic scholars. One of these scholars is Abol Ala Maarri – fourth and fifth century – Arabic philosopher and poet who has gathered his ideas and thoughts about human destiny and fortune in his book called “Lozumiyat”. In the Persian literature also Molana – the seventh century poet and theologist – has talked about determinism and free will in his “Mathnavi” as well. The present article attempts to have a comparative look at this issue and study similarities and differentiates of determinism and free will in these two poets’ poems. The research method is librarian and the data has been done in analytical method.
