Modeling the Assessment of Scrap Curriculum in Higher Education in Iran

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to propose an assessment model for scrap curriculum using confirmatory factor analysis in higher education in Iran. The population comprised of students and faculty members in 11 public universities in Tehran. Using stratified random sampling, 231 students and 56 faculty members were selected utilizing Kerjcie and Morgan table of sample size. A researcher made questionnaire was used based on interview with 21 experts in higher education in Iran. Reliability of the instrument was measured using Alpha Coefficient yielding 0.86 indicating a reliable measure. Validity was tested using experts and instructors teaching curriculum. Confirmatory factor analysis was used as a measurement model. Data was analyzed using SPSS and LISREL. Results revealed nine constructs affecting scrap curriculum as perceived by faculty members and students. The factors are: content, university, reviewing, need assessment and evaluation, instructors, educational policy, designers, students, and poor static market.
