An Estimation of Transferable Volume of Water from Haraz Basin to the East Mazandaran and Golestan Provinces Using By RIBASIM Model

Water shortage in the eastward region of Mazandaran and Golestan provinces is such as problem that water managers is scrambling to try to solve that. According to the focus of the Mazandaran rivers in western and central part of the province، one way to solve this water shortage problem is transfer surplus water of the central and western parts to the east of Mazandaran and Golestan provinces. The purpose of this study is evaluating of the impact of construction of Haraz dam and Chalos across channel on present supply water in Haraz basin and finaly estimating of transferable volume of water from Haraz basin to eastern regions of Mazandaran and Golestan provinces that have been evaluated in terms of three scenarios in dry، normal and wet conditions. For this purpose was used RIBASIM model due to its comprehensiveness. In order to evaluate the hydrological performance of the prepared model، was used the determining coefficient parameter (R2). R2 is 0. 87 in this study that is the indication of acceptable performance of the model. Results showed that، the volume of transferable water in the best and the worst weather conditions (wet and dry conditions) is approximately 531 and 378. 25 million cubic meters، respectively.
