Abul Hasan Sahzli: A Comparative Study of Common Personal Features between Morocco and Egypt

Abstract:
The present article presents Abul Hasan Shazli as one of the renowned mystics in the Arabian Maghrib and Egypt. His proper name is Abul Hasan Ali bin Abdullah bin al-Jabar Shazli Sharif Husseini and was born in 593 hegira in Ghamareh, Morocco. He is a relative of Shazli. The present article also discusses his visits to other regions and his debates with the jurisprudents of Tunisia and Alexandria. In order to shed light on his mysticism, the concept of mysticism has been defined in this article particularly the definition given by Shazli himself: mysticism is self practice through worship in order to make it obey the commandments of the Lord. A mystic has four characteristics: - Having the ethic of the Lord, glorified be Him;- Accompanying the commandments of the Almighty;- Refraining from vengeance due to feeling shy from the Lord;- Traversing the Right Path.
