Traffic Safety in Specific Lines (Case study: Tehran Bus Rapid Transit Line 7)

Traffic and transportation problems in metropolitan areas are an issue that has eclipsed all walks of life. These problems, in addition to waste people’s time, cause environmental problems and also impose an economic burden on the society, municipalities and government. Tehran Metropolis is also not an exception. There are many cars on the streets of this city that is going to make it to the big parking. One way to solve the problem of traffic in Tehran is the expansion of public transport and Bus Rapid Transit is introduced as one of mass rapid Transit. One of the important points in implementing of public transportation systems is the traffic safety and the lack of attention to, resulting in disaster. The purpose of this study was to recognize the importance of traffic safety issues in implementation of bus rapid routes and strategies to improve traffic safety, especially the line seven of Tehran Bus Rapid Transit is studied. The research method is Descriptive – analytical. Traffic safety variables were recognized in 5 sections and questionnaire was distributed. Validity by 11 traffic and transport experts confirmed. The reliability value was 0.78. Results showed that there is significant relationship between traffic safety in the design and implementation of bus rapid routes.
