Examining the influence of tendency to mosques on tendency to selfsacrifice (Case Study: Urban population of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad province in 2014)

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between tendency to mosques and tendency to self-sacrifice in urban areas of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad province in Iran. This study has applied a survey method in 2014. By using stratified multistage sampling, a sample of 384 people who were 18 years and older were selected randomly in urban areas of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad (Yasouj, Dehdasht and Gachsaran). The collection tool includes a researcher-made questionnaire, used to determine its validity from formal validity, and to determine the reliability of internal consistency with Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. By using Pearson correlation, results of study showed that there is a significant relationship between tendency to the mosque and tendency to the self-sacrifice at 99%. In multivariate regression, 23% of the variance tends to seeking of martyrdom and selfsacrifice, explained by a tendency to mosque. The relationship between education level of respondents and tendency to self-sacrifice has an inverse and significant relationship. The relationship between respondents’ age and the tendency towards self-sacrifice is not significant. In addition, according to marital status and gender of individuals there is a significant relationship between tendency to self-sacrifice, and seeking of martyrdom.
