The study of attending in e,tekaf meeting on self-esteem and social acceptance of students

mental health as an important factor of human development is comprising of many components such as pure thinking , ability of coping with problems, ability of having relation with others, selfawareness and purposefulness . Among mental health variables, selfesteem and social acceptances seem more important. With respect to multidimensional aspects of the issue, some investigators studied the effect of religion on this area. Bergen (1988), for example, suggested that the religion is the origin of purposive and meaningful life, and Jensen (1993) by investigating on 3835 students noted that increasing in religious beliefs has a positive and meaningful relationship with selfrespect and emotional development. Also other researchers such as Rasi (1384) and Majdian (1383) have noted this. According to this, the present research tries to study the effect of e,tekaf on mental health variables. the present study is a quasi-experimental one, with pretestposttest design that performed in the first semester of 1385-86. Two tests were used, Rosenberg’s self-esteem scale, (reliability 0.81 according to alpha choronbach) and crown & Marlow social acceptance scale (0.74). Tests performed pre and post of the meeting and finally 100 questionnaires were analyzed.
