An introduction to unserious comparative literature

Abstract:
Poetry and prose literature has been divided into two general sections: serious and unserious literature. Serious literature includes: ethics, love, epic and etc…, unserious literature includes: satire, humor, witticism, jesting and etc…. History of Persian literature has no instances of unserious literature but lampooning and if there are
instances they are normally lampooning used instead of others such as satire. Arab literary men have divided the dark ages and early Islamic literature into 10 sections based on their purpose and intentions the fifth of which is lampooning. They have defined it as: “counting the ugliness and indecencies and neglecting favors and kindnesses”. The old Iranian literary men had also divided literature into 10 sections based on their purpose and intentions with a little bit difference.
