Model to Prioritize Pathways to Insert On the Guide Signs (Case Study: Vali-e-Asr Expressway, Sari)

Guide Signs as one of the primary means of traffic control, play an important role in controlling traffic flow. Guide Signs in addition to having the legibility and visibility, should be a way to convey the message to drivers, so that drivers between the signs and intersection, Recognize their own path. On the other hand, because of the limitations that exist in some of words on signs; at most two or three locations can be written on a sign. Hence, in this paper, with recognizing driver’s expectations by using method of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP); among the most important places ahead; the most important route can be used to insert the signs. Finally, it is determined that Vali-e-Asr Exp.-East , Bahrami Exp. , Airport Route and Gorgan-Mashhad , for direct and Vali-e-Asr Exp.-West , FarahAbad Blvd. and Sea for Right have a higher Priority than in other Places.
