Determining the contribution of risk perception based on personality traits among risky drivers

Abstract:
Aim: The purpose of this study was the prediction of risk-full driving perception base on the personality traits.
Methods
The method of this research was correlation. The population was including of the high risk-taking drivers in Tehran. Sampling method was at reach and candidates. 460 high risk drivers among 2700 drivers were selected according to Cochran’s sampling formula. For gathering the data 2 questionnaires were involved: NEO FFI-60 personality traits’ Costa & McCrae, 1989 and driving risk perception Ulleberg, & Rundmo, 2001. Then, the methods of statistics (like: Pearson coefficient & regression) were used for data analyses.
Results
Results showed personality traits can predict risky driving perception. There are relationships between personality traits and risky driving perception.
Conclusions
Since the driving risk perception and personality traits involved in driving accidents, therefore, personality and risk perception assessment for whom are asking to get or renewal driving license and risky drivers looks like essential to prevent and restrain driving of risky drivers.
