Parallel Worlds and Narrative Semantics

Author(s):
Abstract:
The plot of some narratives is structured unexpectedly and abnormally so that the sums of paradoxical and opposite moods or attitudes are rendered at the same time. Conceptualizing of these kinds of narratives on the basis of classic cosmology which is our habitual and intuitive belief is not possible, but another cosmology such as quantum cosmology is in need. We may have to rationalize the text through the idea of plural realities, because according to multiverse interpretation of quantum cosmology all possibilities will be actualized and gathering of all opposite states are possible. Therefore, this essay is an interdisciplinary research in order to analysis of the kinds of “multiverse narratives”. The major question of this article is exposition of relationship between the notion of parallel universes in physics and narrative semantics. On the other hand, the article’s purpose is to answer to this question that what is the function of parallel worlds’ idea in narrative semantics? As a result, it is illustrated that various sorts of multiverse narratives invites the reader to reflect on the nature of space, time, identity, memory and challenging of boundary between actual and virtual world.
