Identifying the Barriers Leading to the Inconsistency of Postgraduate Theses Topics in Educational Sciences Majors with the Needs of Society

Abstract:
The present research aimed at identifying the obstacles that leads to the inconsistency of Postgraduate thesis topics in educational sciences with the society needs. The research method is descriptive-quantitative. The statistical population consists of about 50 faculty members at universities of Isfahan, Islamic Azad and Payam Noor, who teach educational sciences in the academic year 1392- 93. In this study, due to the limited number of faculty members, a complete census sampling method was used. A researcher-made questionnaire with 24 close-ended questions was applied and its validity was assessed by Cronbach's alpha coefficient at 0/91, and its validity was confirmed by experts in education. Data analysis was done through descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation and percent). For analysis data descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation and percent) was used. The results showed that economic, socio-cultural, and organizational barriers and constraints are effective in the inconsistency of post-graduate thesis topic with the society needs.
