A Comparative Study of Aesthetic Features of the Holy Quran with Syntactic Deviations Theory: the Case of Sura Al-Kahf

Stylistics as one method for the analysis of literary texts is nowadays mostly based on "deviation". This theory, sometimes referred to as "diversion from norms" or "deviation from standard language", is one of the main findings of the Russian formalists and its emphasis is on differentiation of literary works from normal language. Deviation from syntax or grammatical forms is one type of this deviation represented in the form of movements of different parts of the sentence and manipulating them. The Holy Quran which is the most perfect example of speech and is at the peak of rhetoric and eloquence displays various aspects of aesthetic features. Against this background, the present study tried to reveal the hidden beauties of this wonderful, literally miraculous book as much as possible by answering the following questions: Which one of the methods of syntactic deviation is used more frequently in the Holy Quran? What purposes do these aesthetic and semantic features pursue? What is the impact of such a process on promoting the language of the text? To this end, the descriptive-analytical method was adopted to study the syntactic deviations in Sura "Al-Kahf" as a drop in the ocean of infinite divine speech. The findings of this study shows that the purposeful progress and delay of elements of a sentence aiming at dedication; deletion, to engage the reader's mind, and to stimulate his imagination and emotions; addition, which adds to the meaning and emphasis of the message; and different types of attention in pronouns, which results in a stylistic change in monotonous texts and persuades the reader to follow them, to think and try to find the mysteries of texts were the most frequent examples of syntactic deviations in this holy sura, highlighting its text and consequently inspiring special meanings in the audience.
