Methods of Fire Support of the IRI Army Regional Headquarters Mission in the Asymmetric Warfare by Artillery Groups

To oppose their threats, all countries have to possess specific measures, policies and initiations so that they can converge and implement defense and security efforts in the form of doctrines and general policies. Because of the changes in the IRI Army structure, fire support of Army regional headquarters mission by artillery groups has faced challenge particularly in asymmetric warfare. The aim of this research is to case-study the task organization and fire planning of artillery groups in fire support of the regional operational headquarters of the Army in asymmetric warfare. The research is descriptive with a mixed method analysis approach. The study population is the IRI Army artillery groups. Due to lack of asymmetric warfare experience against trans-regional forces, researcher interviewed experts, distributed questionnaires and referred to existing documents to collect data. This research findings, added new items to classic warfare task organization and army artillery groups fire planning in fire support of army regional headquarters mission in unbalanced warfare. Based on the findings of this research, further measures than those of classic wars have to be included for task organization and fire planning of the artillery groups in the fire support of the missions of the regional operational headquarters of IRI Army in and asymmetric warfare.
