The Framework of the Theory of Progress and Evolution in the View of Ayatollah Motahhari

Abstract:
Passing about forty years of the Islamic revolution, Iran is in need of an indigenous and Islamic model of progress. A model that is consistent with the foundations of the revolution and is in the direction given by its divine leaders.
In designing the progress model, the first step is conceptualization, and its purpose is reaching a theoretical framework for determining the limits of progress. The possibility of recognizing real progress from virtual progress and the ability to discriminating between the right progress and the wrong one are among other advantages of the conceptualization.
This paper deals with the concept, foundations and different kinds of human community's evolution in the view of Ayatollah Motahhari and concludes with a theoretical framework for determining the limits of progress. In this framework, sorts of progress in six realms of spiritual, mental, physical, cultural and civilizational are depicted as a form of schema. In the future research, this framework can be complemented and used for modeling progress in different social spheres. This work can be done by establishing relationships between these six areas and weighing these relationships based on priority, inferiority and amount of importance of them.
