Effect of lead and zinc and mycorhiza fungi role on antioxidant enzymes activity and biomarkers of destruction in alfalf, green pea and vetch

Abstract:
In order to investigate the effect of lead and zinc and mycorhiza fungi role on enzyme activity and the amount of the destruction biomarkers of plant specious alfalfa, green pea and vetch, a pot experiment was conducted in Islamic Azad University Shahr-e-Qods branch in 2012. The experiment as factorial was based on complete randomized design with four replications. Factors included: natural soil (S1), soil contaminated with lead and zinc mines (S2) and soil contaminated with zinc concentrate company (S3), plant type including: alfalfa (Medicago sativa), vetch (villosa Vicia) and green pea (Lathyrus sativus) and mycorhiza fungi (Glomus Intraradices) were in two levels: consumption and non-consumption (control). For preparing contaminated soils samples, contaminated soils around a zinc concentrate company and zinc and lead mines located on 10 kilometer Zanjan province were used. Generally, the amount of all antioxidant enzymes activity and destruction biomarkers (except dy- hydroxyl goanozin) were higher in two contaminated soils with heavy metals in compare to natural soil (control). According to the results of the experiment, mycorhiza fungi consumption could increase the amount of all antioxidant enzymes in contaminated soils (S2 and S3) in compare to natural soil (S1) in all species studied crops. Moreover, consumption of mycorhiza fungi due to more heavy metals absorption increased MDA biomarkers and D-T crop species except 8-OH-dG biomarker in contaminated soils. Totally, alfalfa by producing more CAT and GPX enzyme and vetch by producing more SOD enzyme in compare to crop specious green pea probably have been able to protect against oxidative tension due to heavy metals lead and zinc producing free radicals. Among plant species, alfalfa allocated higher amount of biomarker 8-OH-dG and D-T and also vetch species, higher amount of MDA biomarker.
