Multiculturalism Approach to Criminal Justice; A case Study of Police Programs and Practices

Abstract:
Community orientation required to being flexible toward all kind of people. If police does not pay attention to minorities’ needs and concerns, they will be isolated from the society and do not participate in social activities. As the community based police that seeks to improve its relationship with the society’s members to achieve the goal of facilitating crime control and realizing order, it cannot attract the minorities trust. In addition to recognizing right of being different and respect to multiculturalism in the society, police needs to decrease the security approach to minorities. The police also prevent strict acts to minorities to enjoy the potential social support of them in solving crime problems. Also, limitation of police employment the majority causes that they could not understand needs and concerns of minorities. During training process of police they should learn aspects of discrimination and injustice towards minorities group. They need to review their attitudes about minorities.
