Efficacy of Group Logo Therapy on Coping Strategies with Stress and Adjustment to Illness in Leukemia Patients

Leukemia is one of the cancers affecting coping style and adjustment of patients. This study aims at investigating the efficacy of group logo therapy on Coping Strategies with Stress and adjustment toward illness in leukemic patients and comparing the results to those of control group
This study is a semi-experimental research based on pre-test and post-test with a control group. Research population consists of all leukemia patients, having referred to Shahid Ghazi Hospital in 2015. From the above-mentioned population, 33 subjects have been selected through available non-random sampling and then Subjects have been randomly divided into two experimental (17 individuals) and control groups (16 individuals). Then, subjects in the experimental group were trained for “logo therapy” in 10 sessions. Subjects in control group did not receive any training. Subjects in both experimental and control groups answered strategic questionnaires of coping style and adjustment before and after treatment. The data were analyzed by the descriptive statistics and t-tests using SPSS (v. 17) software.
Our findings showed that the two groups have similar demographic characteristics. The mean problem solving coping style of the intervention and control groups are 62.1 ± 7.6 and 29.5 ± 7.6, respectively. Also, their difference is statistically significant (P This finding confirms that logo therapy could result in meaning of life in leukemia patients and it results in better coping style and adjustment.
