It is the pitfall of rhinoplasty planning; using the glabella as the reference point for midline

Using the position of eyebrow for facial midline determining, and then planning for rhinoplasty, could be another seduction. The aim of this study is to talk about how much we can rely on this line.
Photographs of 200 rhinoplasty patients were selected randomly from the senior author Dr. S. Motamed. The anthropometrical data extracted from that digitally by using several application based on Adobe Photoshop.
In this approach, we found 196 patient had asymmetry in using glabella as the midline point. The direction of eyebrow shift correlated with the direction of nasal deviation for nasal bones (p = 0.0036) and nasal tip (p = 0.0016), but not for upper lateral cartilages (p = 0.42).
Understanding the prevalence of eyebrow asymmetry and the patient effort to camouflage with manipulation, can be a guidance signal for surgery planning. In addition, the high prevalence of eyebrow asymmetry brings up better point for midline determination than glabella.
