Determination of Cropping Pattern and evaluation of cultivated species with refined urban wastewater for reclamation of arid lands

Abstract:
One of the most important ways to combat desertification is Increasing the vegetation cover. One of the projects that can provide integrated management of water resources in ecosystems and Reduction of desertification and increase of vegetation cover is The use of unconventional water, including Wastewater of treatment plants urban. In this regard, proper selection of plant species adaptable and resistant to the conditions of desert ecosystems and waste water quality is very important. The aim of this study is Choose the best suitable culture pattern with quality of treated wastewater of Sabzevar. To revive the desert rangelands Deruk – Barabad of Sabzevar and evaluation of plant species cultivated in those areas. To do this, waste water of treatment plant of Sabzevar sampled and were examined. Then the cropping pattern consistent with waste water quality Was determined By comparing the properties of the wastewater quality with standards of quality in Jordan. Finally, examination of halophytes species cultivated in the region Was conducted by comparing the establishment of Species at two different times and Compare the percentage of vegetation cover of cultivated species at the moment. The results showed that wastewater treatment of Sabzevar in parks (Green Space) parameters for total coliform, dissolved oxygen, total suspended solids, biochemical oxygen demand and chemical oxygen demand limiting and cooked vegetables, forage crops and forest trees and industrial products only parameters for total coliform, dissolved oxygen is the limit. The evaluation results showed that the cultivated species after several years of implementation of irrigation with wastewater, respectively Haloxylon aphyllum species, Atriplex canescens and Nitraria schoberi showed the highest survival rate. In general between species, Haloxylon species is superior in terms of survival.
