Investigating the Relationship between the Content of Sahand Provincial Network Programs and Audiences’ National Identity

Abstract:

The aim of the present study is to investigate the relationship between contents of East Azerbaijan Sahand Province Network programs and its audiences’ belongingness to national identity. The present study was conducted via survey research and using a researcher-made questionnaire on a sample size consisting of 400 participants ages 15 to 70 years in Tabriz City in 2014. The participants were selected viathe multistage stratified sampling technique. Findings of the research indicate that there is a direct and significant correlation between the degree of use and purposeful use of Sahand Province Network as well as the type of contents of the network in all civil, religious, social, and cultural dimensions with audiences’ belongingness to national identity. Although the correlation of contents of Sahand Network is positive in terms of civil, religious, cultural, and social dimensions, the correlation is not highly significant. It indicates that the participants achieve some part of their belongingness to national identity form other resources as well.
