Clothing and identity: characteristic of cultural identity in Iranian clothing

There is no art that is more effective than the clothing art in the soul of individuals (Burkhardt).
Iranian culture is a collection of traditions, customs, religions and languages that could reach a relatively a single principle across the nations. The identity or the question of individuality is generated through cultural attitudes and considered as the most important distress of humankind that shows the place of human being in the essence. Identity sometimes is personality based and occasionally transverse. The clothing issue as the human dignity and from the needs of human being is considered as an emergence of cultural identity of humankind. Therefore, its outward face comes out of human behavior and naturally has the changing components and its deep content and meaning is related to human mood that includes the higher, stable or associated with fewer changes in meaning, since these meanings and concepts have their roots in the essence of human being and the culture came out of it. It is endeavored in this research, that in addition to identifying the characteristics of Iranian clothing, the identity components should be described which are appeared in the Iranian covering. In addition, the major reason related to the changes should be expressed that has transformed the Iranian dress during the history course as an assault and finally the techniques should be discussed to recreate the Iranian clothing. In describing such themes, the ideas of some traditional theorists as well as the historical books of recent century have been studied on the subject of clothing and dressing.
