Citation Analysis of the Articles Published in Journal of Studies in Library and Information Science

The journals are the valid method for communication between authors and subject specialists. The aim of this study was to investigate the citations of the articles published in Journal of Studies in Library and Information Science (JSLIS).
Material and This survey study investigated the citations of the articles published in JSLIS during 2009-2015 (issues 1-15). Data were analyzed using Excel and descriptive statistics (frequency, percent and mean).
Findings: Among 1963 citations of 110 published articles, most citations belonged to journals (52.77%), citation mean for each article (17.84±7.94) and authors’ self-citation (5.09%). The most cited authors of Persian and English are Farideh Osareh and Garfield, respectively. The most cited journals of Persian and English are "Library and Information Science" and "Scientometrics", respectively. The most cited Persian and English books are "From Bibliometrics to Webometrics" and "Introduction to Informetrics", respectively. The half-life mean for Persian resources is 9 years and 6 months while for English ones is 11 years and 2 months.
Although published articles in JSLIS have had an acceptable condition from the view point of authorship pattern, considering limited usage of up-to-date resources and due to the high half-life ones, it seems that the affiliated organization needs to take measures for improving the author's pattern of information–seeking behavior to develop the further research in the field of Library and Information Science.
