The Relationship between Mindfulness and Theory of Mind: Moderating Role of Neuropsychological Characteristic of Schizophrenia

Abstract:
The present study was conducted with a correlational method. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between mindfulness and theory of mind and neuropsychological characteristic of schizophrenia and determine the moderating effect of natural features of schizophrenia in the relation of mindfulness and theory of mind. For this purpose, 220 university students (110 males and 110 females) were selected by multistage random sampling method from the universities of Bonab. Kentucky Inventory of Mindfulness Skill (KIMS), 78- item Schizophrenia Scale of MMPI-2, and Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test (RMET) were used for data collection. The results indicated that high mindfulness in an individual leads to high theory of mind and low neuropsychological characteristic of schizophrenia. In addition, more neuropsychological characteristic of schizophrenia of individual leads to less theory of mind.
