The Expansion of Neosalafism in Europe: Ideational Backgrounds and Security Consequences

Before the emergence of ISIS, There was an idea that the danger of Neosalafism fundamentalism is limited in the Middle East but it is accepted that this kind of fundamentalism threat international security. The joining of European citizens to Neosalafism groups like ISIS shows that the Europe is confronting to one of the most important security dilemmas after World War II. What are the most important reasons for joining of European young people to Neosalafist groups? What are the main security consequences of this phenomenon to Europe? On the basis of Casstell's theory, the process of "project identity" in the Europe could not attract the parts of European Muslims and it leads to creation a kind of "resistance identity" in European Muslims and expansion on Neosalafism. The aim of this article is to examine the reasons of expansion of Neosalafism in Europe and security consequences of this expansion on European society.
