Explain role of mediator cultural Intelligence in the relationship between Leadership Styles and Personality traits (Case Study: State Organizations of Guilan Province)

This article aims to examine the mediating role of cultural intelligence on the relationship between personality traits and leadership styles in state organizations in Gilan province, Iran. A descriptive, applied study was performed. The research is an experimental study. The statistical population consisted of all general directors and their assistants in state agencies. A sample of 143 participants was selected using simple random sampling method. Data were collected using three questionnaires: Personality Traits Questionnaire, Leadership Styles Questionnaire, and Cultural Intelligence Scale. The data were analyzed using correlational test and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). SPSS 20 and Lisrel 8.8 were employed. The results of SEM indicate that 1. Personality traits have a positive and significant effect on leadership styles; 2. Personality traits are found to have a positive and significant effect on cultural intelligence; and 3. Cultural intelligence has a positive and significant effect on leadership styles. Recommendations were made based upon the findings.
