Abstract:
Takhrīj (extrapolation) is one of the hadith knowledge which is used in assessing the authenticity of hadiths. So far, many books have been compiled in this field, but no independent research has been conducted to identify, review and criticize the sources of this knowledge. Therefore, a comprehensive and analytical research is necessary. The purpose of this article is to introduce and criticize the book Osūl al- Takhrīj wa Dirāsat al-Asānīd, by Mahmoud Tahān, as the first book written on the theoretical subjects of this knowledge. The overall benefit of this research is to get acquainted with the meanings and ways of extrapolation, as well as the importance of the book Osūl al-Takhrīj. Its particular benefit is to use this book as a model for the basics, principles, rules and methods of extrapolation in Shiism. The innovation of this paper is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the mentioned book and to review its structure and text. The research material is the introduction and the text of the book. This article is arranged in three sections: introducing the author, introducing the book, and reviewing the book.
