Investigating the Role of Environmental Education in Changing of Knowledge and Attitude of Rural First Grade High School Students of Harsin, Kermanshah Province

In today's world, it is agreed that education is the most effective tool to deal with future challenges, especially environmental protection. Therefore, the relevant conducting studies can provide the basic information for planners and decision makers and consequently a better plan for the elimination of problems and pollution control are provided.
This study was carried out as a descriptive and about 50 rural student in sub-district of Harsin was selected randomly. Based on the prepared questionnaire, knowledge, attitude and their relationship with regard to "environmental issues" was measured. For this, Likert scale was used.
The findings showed there is a significant difference between the mean score of knowledge and attitude of the students before and after their education. About 39% of the students were aware before the training, and 94% were after higher education. The mean score of knowledge after education of students was 89% with excellent attitude. Also, 10% had moderate attitude and only 1% poor attitude.
Based on results it can be concluded that with proper training, knowledge and attitudes can be promoted to an acceptable level.
