Abstract:
Introduction
The incidence pf metabolic dosorders due to inactivity is growing. The aim of current study was to investigate the effect of 8 weeks of concurrent training on body composition and bochemical markers of metabolic disorders in overweight non-athlete men.
Materials And Methods
30 young men aged 19 to25 years and a BMI of 25 to 28 Kg/M2, randomly divided into three groups as aerobic-intermittent sauna, aerobic continuous-sauna and exercise strength-sauna (n=10) groups. Subjects performed 3 sessions per week of periodic, continuous and strength aerobic exercise on individual days, and then 2 sessions of sauna program per week in even days for 20 to 30 minutes in a dry sauna with a temperature of 80°C. Blood samples were taken from subjects in fasting and two times before and after 8 weeks of intervention. Changes in serum lipid profiles (triglyceride, total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol, lipoprotein A) and insulin resistance index were assessed by enzymatic method. The results were evaluated using variance analysis.
Results
The results showed that after intensive aerobic training, continues training and strength training simultaneously with the sauna, total cholesterol, triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein (LDL), lipoprotein A, body fat percentage, glucose concentration, insulin concentration and Insulin resistance index significantly decreased, while the aerobic power and high density lipoprotein (HDL) significantly increased (P≤0.05). Also, there was no significant difference between groups except aerobic power (P≥ 0.05)
Conclusion
The results of this study indicate that periodic aerobic exercise, continuous aerobic exercise and strength training simultaneously with the sauna have a favorable effect on lipid profile and insulin resistance. Compared to most aerobic and strength exercises, the practice of coinciding strategy is seen to be more effective.
