Investigating the Factors Affecting the Sociability of Neighborhood Parks (Case Study: Zafaraniyeh Neighborhood Parks in Tabriz)

Considering the importance of social life as a way out of the social identity crisis in contemporary cities, The importance of urban parks as a space for social interactions, and Islam’s recommendation to social life, The problem of this research is social attitude towards neighborhood parks and research on effective factors in promoting their sociability. The importance of research is to pay attention to the role of place in the social life of people, and the need to pay attention to open and public spaces such as urban parks, as the place of social interactions and their role in recreational patterns. According to preliminary studies, among the parks in Saffaraniyeh neighborhood of Tabriz Baharan Park, with the similar social and physical conditions, it has more sociability than two other neighboring parks (Zafarandiyeh and Mirdamad), despite the unusual sound pollution. Therefore, the question of the present research has been formulated based on the reasons and factors influencing this issue. The research method is a combination of quantitative and qualitative strategies. To do research, correlation and software analysis (SPSS), and analysis of the content of interviews and field surveys have been used. A quantitative measure of sociability components through LSD follow-up tests and oneway variance analysis confirmed the higher level of sociability in Baharan park than two other parks. Other dimensions of sociability were were found by conducting interviews with users of parks and field surveys. After adaptation of the obtained data, the environmental variables and characteristics associated with the urban park’s sociability were extracted and categorized. It can be said that under the same conditions in parks, the components of social security and spatial domains have been among the most important factors for users, especially Also, there are recreational and cultural facilities (considering the public expectations of parks), as well as amenities and environmental comfort, among other priorities of park users. Eventually, there are suggestions on how to promote sociability in urban parks.
