Evaluating efficiency of academic libraries in Iran: Applying Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Common Set of Weights (CSW)

Performance appraisal is one of the key issues in managing any organization or institution that seeks to improve the level of performance or performance of its organization's existing situation. There are different approaches to evaluating performance. One of the approaches or performance evaluation patterns is the "Data Envelopment Analysis", which is a nonparametric method based on the data obtained from the input and output indices. The purpose of the present study is to determine the appropriate indicators for assessing the efficiency, efficiency, efficiency, or inefficiency of the central libraries of Iranian universities, according to this approach. This research is descriptive. For collecting data, a survey method has been used and two questionnaires have been used. For performance evaluation of central libraries, the BCC model is one of the patterns of data envelopment analysis, as well as another model common weights was used. An evaluation of the effectiveness of 41 central government academic libraries in Iran showed that only one library was efficient and excellent, 8 libraries very good, 13 libraries good, 7 libraries medium-level, and 12 libraries at poor levels are located.
