A Study Concerning the Effect of Presence in Public Domain and Use of Mass Media on the Level of Awareness and Knowledge Among Women about their Own Family Rights; a Case Study: Women of Urmia in 1395

A study concerning the effect of presence in public domain and the use of mass media on the level of awareness and knowledge among women about their own family rights; a case study: women of Urmia in 1395 This study aimed to assess the knowledge of women in Urmia and the factors that affect the rights of their family in the city of Urmia. A survey was used and data collection was done through a questionnaire. The study population consisted of all women older than 19 years who were residents of the city of Urmia in 1395. Using Cochran formula, only 385 individuals were selected as the sample. The questionnaires were distributed among the respondents using sampling, multi-stage cluster method. The results showed that, the knowledge of women in Urmia about their family rights was at the intermediate level (54%) and their presence in public, the use of mass media and other control variables (age, marital status, economic and social status) had a positive effect on their awareness about the rights of their family. Multiple regression analysis showed that the variable of women presence in the public arena along with beta coefficient (667.) had the greatest contribution in explaining and predicting the knowledge of women's rights in their family. Also, by analyzing the way it turned out that the empirical model of the research could specify about 60% of the variance of the variable called women's awareness of their own family right.
