Jalāl al-Dīn sharaf shāh Ḥusaynī's Commentary on Wājib al-iʿtiqād fīmā yajibu ʿalā al-ʿibād: a Commentary and Several Misattributions

Wājib al-iʿtiqād fīmā yajibu ʿala al-ʿibād is one of al-ʿAllāma al-Hillī’s (d. 726/1325) very concise theological works which many commentaries are known to have been written on it. Among these commentaries is one which published as a commentary by an unknown Imāmī scholar. The commentary has been wrongly ascribed to some Imāmī scholars such as Ibn Fahd al-Hillī, Muhannʾ b. sinān and ʿAbd al-Ḥusayn Nīlī in the bio-bibliographic sources. This article deals with this issue, proving that the commentary according to Ḥasan b. Muḥammad b. Rāshid’s version of it, is only written by the Imāmī prominent theologian Jalāl al-Dīn Sharaf shāh Ḥusaynī and therefore all the previous hypotheses mentioned concerning its author are false. In this paper also the mentioned edition of Jalāl al-Dīn Sharaf shāh Ḥusaynī’s Sharḥ Wājib al-iʿtiqād fīmā yajibu ʿalā al-ʿibād is reviewed
