A comparative study of the concept of empathy from the point of view of psychology and Islam
Aims:
The purpose of this study was to compare the empathy from the point of view of psychology and Islam. Empathy is a concept that is defined as anxiety for the other based on the reception and understanding of its emotional state or condition and is of great importance due to its major effects on human life. Concerning empathy in psychology, numerous studies have been conducted. Religious teachings have also paid special attention to the place and importance of empathy in life, its causes and its effects.
The research method was analytical-documentary; thus, by collecting information from Islamic and psychological texts, the concept of empathy was studied.
Findings:
Findings showed that empathy is one of the essential issues of life of individuals in society. In psychology, especially in recent years, much emphasis has been placed on the concept of empathy. Also, religious and Islamic teachings emphasize the position of empathy in life.
Empathy is one of the most important educational, political and social goals of Islam and is one of the most valuable achievements of Islam in the turbulent society and the age of the Prophet of Islam. On the basis of psychology, empathy is also considered as the perception of the individual without his judgment.
