Health Service's Status Survey for Couples to Be in Sari in 2015: A mixed Study

Marriage causes family, proliferation and survival of generations. The aim of this study was to determine the state of health services provided to individuals on the verge of marriage.
This was a mixed-method study that in quantitative part, with cross-sectional method 170 clients of Sari Health Center which had inclusion criteria, and were randomly selected, were evaluated by a questionnaire based on the Likert scale. At qualitative section, content analysis method, inferential type has been done through semi-structured interviews with health service providers.
Expectations of 28.4% of participants in marriage counseling were at excellent level, 42.6% good, 23.1% moderate and 9.5% too low. Significant relationship has been found between clients’ scores to different aspects of premarital counseling class with education, occupation and living place. 93% of them were very satisfied with Thalassemia counseling. 56.9% said excellent about the quality of pre-marriage testing. In the qualitative part, from interviews with providers in 3 divisions, 13 key themes were obtained totally, about the status of these services, inadequacies and their suggestions.
need of couples for further learning in social-emotional relationships, family planning and correct sexual relations, and mandatory HBS Ag, HIV tests, genetic testing of families’ couples, non-addictive ten test and HCV seem essential in premarital health services. So it is suggested to revise deeply pre-marriage screening plans.
