Abstract:
Low income groups are among most sacrificing in Islamic revolution of Iran. Suburbanites and squatters are Their main representatives in Tehran, many of them are bankrupt peasants dissatisfied of governmental land reforms who migrated to large cities like the capital, but forced to work at informal sector or turned into blue-collar workers of factories shut down on the verge of the revolution. Outstanding presence of these groups in every revolution could engage it in “social question”, change in the course of events, give priority to coping with poverty and discrimination instead of government formation and it is the beginning of political unrest and even failure of revolution, because it is impossible for beginner bureaucrats to meet those urgent needs. Beginning with description of Tehran suburbanites and squatters’ life, livelihood and demanding acts in 1979-1982, This research responds to “How was the encounter of the ruling establishment with “social question” in Iran post-revolutionary events specially in relation with suburbanites and squatters?” to probe if they were suppressed or satisfied by the establishment in any way. Method of this inquiry is Historical explanatory analysis in the field of political sociology based on theories of Hannah Arendt (in her work “On Revolution”) and Douglass North and his colleagues (Limited Access Orders) as combinatorial theoretical framework.
