Globalization: the opposition or Parallelism of The Macro and Micro Collective Identities

Author(s):
Abstract:
In what follows, we have gone to analyze one of the matters of the discourse on the major and minor (macro and micro) collective identities and its relation to globalization. Having surveyed some classical views on sociology, post-modernist discourse, and those of later intellectuals, we have referred to the theoretical and methodological deficiencies of them. Our objective is to know how, via such an analysis, we can stay away from the one-sided and absolutist view of post-modernists and from researchers such as, Manuel Castells, and then to reach an integrative view which, we think, would better coincide with the realities of our modern world. Contrary to the mentioned approaches, we believe that globalization is the inevitable and real process, on the one hand, and human societies are moving toward some culturally and politically global paradigms as one shared identity, on the other hand. However, there, along with globalization, are being revived the minor and local identities. The finding of this article goes to affirm the above claim.
