Abstract:
The present paper has studied the definition and nature of human rights and discussed the terms belonging to the issue. Given that the term human rights is consisted of “Right” and “Human” its definition depends on explanation of the concepts of the two words. Disagreements about the nature of Right and Human have made it difficult to offer a comprehensive definition of human rights. The present paper has explained the meaning of human rights by discussing the different ideas about the meaning of Right and the viewpoints of Islam and the modern human rights about Human, and finally considers the following statement as the common definition among all the definition: “human rights belong to the mankind by itself and no additional condition is taken in enjoying these rights”. But due to controversies about the nature of Right and Human, these rights have been interpreted in different ways. Likewise, these different interpretations have caused the concept to be used only for modern human rights
