Examining the Effect of Climate Change on Sudan-Red Sea Low-pressure Region and its Relation with Precipitation in the Southwest of Iran

Among the climatic regions of Iran, its southwest faces a great deal of precipitation fluctuations. Wet cycles with heavy and flood-maker rainfalls, on the one hand, and dry cycles and droughts on other hand have caused serious difficulties in human life in this area. The result of this study showed a significant relationship between the isobaric condition in Sudan and red sea region with changes of precipitation in the southwest of Iran with the confidence level of 99 and 95 percent, respectively. There is an acceptable and significant relationship between anomalies of total precipitation in five stations in the southwest of Iran with the pressure changes of Sudan region and Red Sea. Also, finding the trend in the period of about 85 years in Sudan and the Red sea (Sudan tongue) shows that sea level pressure and geo-potential height at 925 and 850 hp levels includes increasing significant trend that results are confirmed by linear regression test and Mann-kendal test. According to the finding of this research, the atmospheric upper levels, especially in central region of Sudan center have recorded more serious changes in comparison with low-pressure region on the red sea during the months of November to December. Changes in the pressure of Sudan low-pressure center are greater than the center of the Red Sea and the main point is importance of significant increase in pressure changes in upper and lower levels. Hence, it can be concluded that the pressure changes in Sudan don’t have just terrestrial and thermal source by itself and dynamic transaction nature of the pressure of this area is more affective.
