Abstract:
Children’s language is of a social genre and has an independent identity. Improper communication between adults and the children puts them in crisis. Children’s acting in radio drama is mostly oral and a two way communication, during these interactions meaning is created. In present research features of child characters and the characteristics of correct interaction between child and elder characters is defined in radio dramas. To achieve the aforementioned, “Little Princess” radio drama has been chosen on purpose and with a qualitative methodology, the research acquires discourse analysis with two approaches of being comparative & inductive for the survey. By analyzing oral actions of Little Princess in approaching any of the adult characters, 21 sub- items have been drawn out. Then, in a more abstract level, 4 main categories (Language Exclusivity, Expressivity, being Cognitive & Behavioral) come to consistency. In comparative approach regarding the theoretical framework of the research (Theory of Communicative Action), 5 main issues (Theme of Speech, Subject of Speech, Tone of Speech, Character’s Purpose of Communication, and The way of Approaching Opposite Characters Claim) were defined by default and all the existing relations in drama have been surveyed on this basis. Findings show whenever actions move towards understanding, the Little Princess performs well enough to push drama forward and reach mutual meaning, but whenever adult characters direct actions towards being strategic, it will lead to their domination, imposes meaning and halts the currents dialogs from moving forward.
According to the outcomes of the research, child characters in radio drama should have all the capacities of a dramatic character but their oral actions must not get along with elders. They are expected to match their real living experiences. Correct use of oral action for child characters will lead to create two equal & opposing forces which their resultant is the rightful revealing of meaning. Sensory recognition of child characters & rational recognition of adult characters will provide a binary sense of dialogs in drama.
