The Effectiveness of Moral Intelligence Training on Students' Attitudes towards Substance

Message:
Abstract:
The current research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of moral intelligence training on changing male students’ attitudes towards substance. This study was a quasi-experimental research in pretest-posttest design with control group. The statistical population of the current research consisted of all male students of the Holy Prophet Farhangian University in the city of Ahvaz in the 2017-2018 academic year. For this purpose, thirty subjects who met the inclusion criteria were selected through convenience sampling and were randomly divided into experimental (n=15) and control (n=15) groups. The moral intelligence training was administered on the experimental group. Participants completed the Attitude Towards Drugs Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance. Findings revealed that moral intelligence training was effective on changing the students’ attitudes towards the effects of substance use, tendency towards and risks for students use. It seems that moral intelligence is a kind of integrating moral ability that enhances one's self-control (one of the virtues of moral intelligence). Overall, the results showed that moral intelligence training is effective and can be used to change students' attitudes towards substance.
