The Philosophy of Mourning Imam al-Husayn

Abstract:
Mourning Imam al-Husayn's martyrdom triggers everybody to learn about the reasons for his movement. First, various Arabic and Persian words related to the mourning are discussed, followed by the practices of the Ahl al-Bayt in this connection. Mourning is justified on scholarly, religious, and rational grounds and reinforces one's true belief in Islam. On the other hand, it symbolizes public attention and belief in the original religious values.
