The Study of Johnson’s image schemas on versesdescribing hell and heaven in Quran on the framework of cognitive semantic

The present research studies Johnson’s containment, path and force schemas among the verses in Quran describing hell and heaven. Our corpus is three suras Vaqee, Ensan, Alrahman and all other verses containing the Terms: Jannat, Ferdows, Rozat, Adn, Darolsalam, Jahanam, Jahim, Nar, Saqar and Sair. Our research method is descriptive-analytic. In this study, we aim to find the application of three schemas in mentioned verses. Also, symbolic units of each schema are detected in the corpus. The goal of this study is to represent the eminent role of image schemas as semantic tools to turn abstract spaces like hell and heaven to concrete and tangible places in the mind of individuals. The researches showed that, path schema with 38 cases and force schema with 8 cases, respectively have the most and the least application in our corpus and also 37 cases of containment schema were found.
