A Reflection on the Functions of Devotional Monotheism in Relation to the Objective and Material Features of Modern Islamic Civilization
The acceptance of absolute lordship of God promises man’s absolute servant hood of God in this world and manifests his monotheism in all walks of life. In this respect, this article makes a conceptual analysis and explains what devotional monotheism is and it becomes clear that this level of monotheism involves the orientation of a monotheist's motives on one hand and determines his actions in all the spheres of life, including social life on the other hand. Since the emergence of a new civilization as one of man’s achievements which is in consistent with Islamic teachings, including all Muslim countries and in the light of the presence and the influence of God is possible, this research, uses an ontological method in an attempt to reflect on the functions of devotional monotheism, as one of its beautiful manifestations in the material and objective features of civilization. The output of these reflections considers that man’s endeavors to achieve world prosperity, nature conservation, observance of religious laws, avoidance of imitating unbelievers as well as perfection, solidarity and beautification can be regarded as the most important functions of devotional monotheism in the present epoch of modern Islamic civilization.
