The Study of the Status of Social Ethics among the Residents of Kerman City
Based on a body of studies on social ethics, it seems that there is a problem related to morality in Iranian society. Most Social thinkers, in spite of different political views, share the view that the foundations of social morality in society are shaken. This research was conducted with the aim of investigating the status of social morality indicators among residents of Kerman city. A sample size of 384 people of over 18 years old were selected. The results of the survey indicate a higher average of social commitment (4.51), social responsibility (4.43) and altruism (4.20) compared to other indicators. The legalistic indicators (3.82), social trust (3.67), socialism (3.62) and social tolerance (3.13) are in next orders respectively. The dimensions of social trust indicate that the level of generalized trust (3.38) is lower than the others. In the context of institutional trust, the highest trust belongs to teachers (3.69) while the lowest score was for the municipality (2.74). In terms of altruism, the normal friendship score is 4.59 and emergency empathy score is 3.47. The results show that the highest commitment is for the family (mean 4.50) while the lowest commitment is for the general population (mean 3.92). It is concluded that social commitment is not generalized among the Kerman's residents. In general, some of the indicators are moderate and some are downward. Community development depends on improving the level of these indicators.
