I.R.I Police’s Strategies for Developing Sustainable Security in the Eastern Border Areas of the Country (Case Study: South Khorasaan Province)

today, the ultimate perfect goal in every state is to establish and maintain "sustainable security", in its territory and under its own; the first prerequisite for a healthy society is to enforce a sustainable security in the community and having such a security provides pleasant backgrounds for social and cultural developments well as promoting the requirement the construction of economic growth in the region. Therefore, in the present study, considering the great importance of border areas,, especially in thee creation and maintenance of sustainable security in the eastern border areas inn national and local levels,the researchers have attempted to study the challenges, threats facing the I.R.I Police in the establishment of sustainable security in the province focusing on South Khorasan Province. Thus, after the identification of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in the region, the obtained data were analyzed, and then the adequate strategies for sustainable security development in this province were provided.

in terms of its goal the present study is of an applied research type and in terms of its method it is of a descriptive-survey method. Moreover, in order to analyze the obtained data and to extract the strategies, the comprehensive strategy formulation framework SWOT was employed.

accessing to the research findings included a five-stage process in which the affecting internal and external factors identified by respondents and then listed.Then,using the IFE and EFE matrices, the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats facing the security forces for developing sustainable security in the southern province were rated. After that, enjoying the two SWOT and QSPM matrices the mentioned parts were put together at the confluence and the appropriate strategies for modulating and reducing the weaknesses and strengths and benefiting more from the opportunities were extracted. The research findings indicated that: 1) potential synergies of disciplinary- security at the provincial level, 2) development and implementation of a comprehensive border security plan with the participation of the people and frontiersman at the provincial level, and 3) Increasing cooperation with other relevant agencies to develop economic and social infrastructure have the greatest impact on the development of sustainable security in the eastern border areas of the country by the Islamic Republic security forces of Iran.
