Analysis of the Social-Security Impacts and Consequences of Droughts with Emphasis on Eastern Provinces

Natural phenomena such as floods, earthquakes, storms, droughts, etc. are called "natural hazards" due to their negative impacts and damages on human life and life. One of the natural phenomena that some parts of the world and human societies such as Iran have always been concerned about is drought and its persistence. In fact, drought, unlike floods and earthquakes, has a wide range of functions, and secondly, it is very creepy and long-lasting and directly threatens the lives of human societies and the development and well-being of nations. The results also show that among the natural hazards, drought is the most common cause of damage. This descriptive-analytical study, based on credible library sources, seeks to answer the question of what consequences drought has on economic, social, environmental, and security dimensions. The research findings show that drought in the eastern half of the country, especially in the provinces of Southern Khorasan and Sistan and Baluchistan, which have fragile economic conditions due to adverse living conditions, has numerous economic, political and environmental consequences. The most significant of these negative consequences include the disappearance of farms and rangelands and the severe restriction of agricultural and livestock production, the elimination of the sole source of dependable rural income, unemployment, exacerbation of poverty and deprivation, exacerbation of crime and social anomaly, exacerbation of local conflict and strife, and Regional, forced rural-urban migration, the creation of security holes, desertification, drying up of rivers and lakes, sandstorms and destruction of ecosystems and loss of wildlife and so on. Climate change also seems to have an effect on the persistence of droughts in some areas of Iran in the coming years.
