Demand-Side Management of Horse Import in Iran

Abstract:

The present study aimed to examine the factors affecting the demands for horse import in Iran. Horse Industry, also known as Equestrian Industry, is a booming industry in the world. Equestrianism (horse/horseback riding) and horse breeding play a key role in the economy and social conditions of the developed world. Iran in the four decades studied in this paper, allowing for certain intervals in between, imported sport, decorative, and other types of horses in order to strengthen equestrianism and satisfy recreational needs. This was an applied, correlational, econometric research, scrutinizingthe influential factors such as tariffs, relative horse prices, and some rare variables such as wars. The results showed that the factors had effects as expected, and the political-social conditions have halted the imports. Tariffs had a negative impact on the imports, in a manner that increase in the tariffs reduced the imports. In addition, there was a direct relationship between the local-global rates and Iran’s import standard value
