Abstract:

Designing Rapid Transit Network layout, considering different capacities for different technologies is considered in this paper. Maximizing coverage of Acceptable coverage is set as the objective function of the model. The network design model is formulated as a mixed integer program. In the proposed model possibility of considering different technologies for different lines is provided. Proposing a new model containing capacity constraint for different technologies is the contribution of this study to the knowledge. The model is solved for an illustrative example by GAMS software. Computational results over various budget scenarios show that there is difference between the solution and resulted objective function with and without capacity constraint. Furthermore, considering different technologies with their corresponding cost has affected the solutions. It is shown by an illustrative example that it is worthy to consider different technologies in designing rapid transit network both from theoretical and practical viewpoints.
